The ascent of skater fashion has surprised many. Coming from the bottom of the fashion pile, to a multi million pound industry now even influencing high fashion, it now holds an established corner of the fashion market.
from gaining a cult following to becoming a fashion leader, skater chic has seen a remarkable transformation.
Starting in the 90s the culture was reserved to ramps at the local park or simply using the various apparatus on the streets like steps and railings.
The crossover came in the early 2000s when skateboarding went maintream with the rise of Xsports and Tony Hawk, whose signature move at X games 5, was the infamous '900'. The 900 is a 2½-revolution (900 degrees) aerial spin performed on a skateboard ramp. While airborne, the skateboarder makes two-and-a-half turns about their longitudinal axis, thereby facing down when coming down. Gaining new fans and notoriety from around the globe, this catapulted skater fashion into the fore and created new brands.
The culture's fortunes are attributed to the sport itself. Skaters didn't change their clothing, nor did they try to conform, they simply stayed in their lane and watched the world catch up. This attitude is applied at the Wolfchamber, we create without conformity in mind.
